This workshop will raise intercultural awareness of participants who study or work in a multi-cultural environment by introducing cultural dimensions, intercultural communication theories and models. Through interactive discussions and activities, the participants will explore how different cultural values influence their own perceptions and behaviors and what kind of new behaviors they would like to try in order to study or work effectively with others who have different cultural backgrounds.
Tomomi Kumai is an ICF certified coach based in Washington D.C. working in the intercultural services serving global business leaders mainly from Fortune Global 500 companies. Tomomi was born as a Korean Japanese bi-culture citizen in Hiroshima, Japan and has lived, worked and studied in the United States, South Korea, and China. Tomomi is certified in Intercultural Communication, Global Competencies Inventory, Team Management System, Korn Ferry 360, Transformative Coaching, and Appreciative Inquiry. She holds a B.A. from San Diego State University and an M.A. from The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Linguistics. She speaks English, Japanese, and Korean fluently, intermediate Chinese, and has basic knowledge of Spanish, and French. Her mission is to provide time, space and opportunity for people to learn from each other to create a positive synergy.
