Amit Pande - Project Scientist at University of California Davis

Amit discuss some of his recent work in authenticating users through video biometric as well as authenticating video itself using sensorpattern noise. First, he will discuss his work where he uses sensors to improve usability and security of facial authentication systems against 2D media attacks and virtual camera attacks to make face recognition more usable for smartphones. Next, he will discuss his recent work where he proposes a scheme to uniquely identify video sensors of smartphones, as a means to authenticate wirelessly streamed videos. This noncryptographic authentication helps to associate a device with a streamed video and is helpful in many surveillance and forensics applications.

Amit Pande is currently a Project Scientist at University of California Davis where he works on mobile videos, applied machine learning, mobile health, hardware acceleration and application security. He is a recipient of Excellence in Postdoctoral research, 2012 from UC Davis and Best Paper Awards in WPMC 2011 and Bodynets 2013. He completed his PhD from Iowa State University in 2010 with Research Excellence Award and Zaffarano Award. Prior to this, he completed his Bachelors from IIT Roorkee, India with Institute Silver Medal for his research.
