The February edition of our new practitioner series we are happy to host Joe Preistly from Cornbelt Electric Cooperative in Bloomington, Illinois. Joe will present on the challenges he faces in his day to day duties as an infrastructure and security manager at Cornbelt. In addition Joe will provide an overview of skills that he has found beneficial throughout his diverse career. The presentation will include discussions of technologies used to provide technology services to Cornbelt, and provide an overview of challenges faced. After the presentation, Joe will stay for a question and answer round table and welcomes the chance to answer any students questions.
Joe Priestley began his role in Military Intelligence as a cryptologic linguist working as a paratrooper. He was also assigned to work with a government intelligence agency. After the conclusion of his service to the country, he spent 15 years in healthcare IT director and CIO positions before making a significant career change to work for a much smaller organization. Focusing primarily in networking, security, and executive management roles. Joe has held numerous industry certifications, including CCNP, CCDP, CISSP, and MCSE, and has a background in programming. He is currently responsible for IT infrastructure, security, and operations at Cornbelt Co-op in Bloomington, Illinois. In his off-time, Joe enjoys bicycling and is a skydiving instructor.
