In this hands-on session, participants will learn about the social and cultural significance of kimbap, a beloved Korean dish, while creating their own customizable rolls. Whether you are new to Korean cuisine or already a fan, this is a great opportunity to cook, learn, and connect with other graduate students.

Meet Your Instructor

Joohye Oh is a Korean American first-year MA student in the English Department at the University of Illinois. Growing up in an area with a small Korean community, she learned to cook Korean food from scratch through lots of trial and error. Her research interests include the Korean diaspora, food studies, and literacy. Having lived in the Midwest her entire life, she looks forward to sharing kimbap and Korean food culture with the UIUC community.
