We’re excited to host Dr. James Kakalios (University of Minnesota), a physicist widely known for his engaging work connecting comic books and physics. His talk explores how superhero narratives can illuminate real scientific principles, using characters and scenarios from popular culture to explain concepts like energy, motion, relativity, and quantum mechanics in accessible and often surprising ways.

This event is co-hosted by the Department of Physics and the School of Art & Design, and supported in part by the Studio Art Program, Art Education Program, and the Visitors Committee. It should be especially compelling for students interested in illustration, visual storytelling, speculative worlds, and the intersection of science and narrative.
