A critical approach seeks to cuncover and challenge power dynamics, inequality, and oppression within social systems. An important aspect of this approach is to explain how the legacy effects of prior decisions shape how we live today. This talk will use this lens to show how adding power as inputs into a sociohydrological system reveal different outputs - how different social groups interact with and access water and will investigate four aspects of water security - safety, availability, reliability, and affordability - using examples from the US, Mexico, and South Africa.
