Come and listen to a bilingual story in Japanese and English!

This month's theme is East Asian Folklore: "Hats for the Jizos"

On New Year’s Eve, an old man goes to town hoping to sell something so he can buy some special food to celebrate the New Year. On the way home, it begins to snow. The old man sees six statues of the deity Jizo (jee-zoh), looking cold. He decides to do a nice deed and then returns home to his wife. The next day, on New Year’s Day, the two awaken to a surprise.

Co-sponsored by The Champaign Public Library and the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies at the University of Illinois.
