It is no secret that higher education focuses on student success and aims to graduate students who are ready to make a difference in society. For many years, research has focused on bridging the gap from high school to college with effective first year experience programs, but in recent years, research has shifted to include the second year. Second year students once felt invisible and now programs are being developed at institutions across the world to provide tailored resources to second year students. In response to the rising attention, Second Year Experience Coordinator Paton Roden (The University of Alabama at Birmingham) developed a Second Year Student Experience Assessment in March 2018 and administered the assessment to institutions internationally. The survey was created to find out information about various institutions' second year (sophomore) students, institutions' current approaches toward working with them, and thoughts/ideas moving forward. 55 participants from a wide range of institutions provided some great feedback. Due to a high volume of individuals/institutions wanting the results, Paton Roden will be hosting the webinar again on June 8.
