The aim of the user group is to build a community of interest around data science to foster learning, collaboration, and networking. The group will serve both students and professionals to bridge the gap between the analytical sciences and practical applications of industry.
For our March meetup, we are excited to welcome Stephanie Besser who will be presenting to our group on data science in the healthcare field. Stephanie is an adjunct lecturer of the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an Adjunct Faculty at DePaul University in Chicago, and a Sr. Analyst at Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. She will give an overview of how Cardiovascular research has begun to use data science, the transferable skills we require in healthcare data science positions, and how we can continue to advance Cardiovascular research and real-time health decisions through more interdisciplinary collaboration and advanced data science methods.
