Savvy Researcher Workshops - University Library

The Savvy Researcher takes a break in the summer! If you need help, please reach out to us via email, sc@library.illinois.edu. 

 

Workshops for the Fall 2021 semester will be taught in varying formats depending on the topic, synchronous session will be held in Main Library 314 and online sessions will use Zoom. In order to attend online workshops, you will need a NetID assigned to you from UIUC and you will need to login to your Zoom account to "activate" it.

You may also request workshops for courses, graduate student study groups, and departmental events, etc. Workshop request are limited to sessions that will include at least five people. You can review a list of the Spring 2021 workshops including the descriptions. If you have questions, please contact savvyresearcher@library.illinois.edu

PLEASE NOTE: Registration must be completed the day before the workshop by 9:00 A.M. e.g., for a Thursday workshop, you must register by Wednesday at 9:00 A.M.. For Monday workshops, you will need to register by Friday at 9:00 A.M.

Scalar (http://scalar.usc.edu) is a dynamic cloud-based platform that allows users to build interactive, multi-media exhibits and publications.  This workshop will introduce you the basics of building a Scalar 'book': You will learn how to upload text, images, and videos into Scalar; build pages in Scalar; connect Scalar paths to create a Scalar book; and generate visualizations in Scalar.  All levels of experience are welcome!
