Both Europe and the United States are central to shaping a more sustainable agricultural future. To overcome mutual challenges and to provide joint global leadership for the future of agriculture, a better mutual understanding of different agricultural practices, standards, and ideas is needed. The U.S.-German Forum Future Agriculture project, led by the Aspen Institute Germany together with implementing partner, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, addresses particularly this need by bringing together German and U.S. farmers and key agricultural stakeholders from research and business. Through the exchange of experiences, establishment of new transatlantic networks, and development of policy recommendations, this project promotes innovative approaches for the future of agriculture and rural areas.

As part of the project, Aspen Germany is hosting a transatlantic, virtual final event for the first cohort on September 27, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12:30pm CDT via Zoom. This event will convene participants from Germany, Europe, and the United States to discuss the future of agriculture. The event also presents the opportunity to discuss the policy recommendations developed in the context of the project with U.S. and European representatives from politics, research, business, and praxis. The event will be held in English.

We are very pleased to welcome numerous outstanding speakers, including: Dr. Ophelia Nick, Parliamentary State Secretary, German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Jeanne F. Bailey, Deputy Administrator, Trade Policy and Geographic Affairs, Foreign Agricultural Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. Bailey is an ACES alumna!

All interested are welcome to join this event!
