This summer the Graduate College Office of External Fellowships will host a six-week writing lab to support students in preparing competitive applications for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF-GRFP). Participants will benefit from research proposal and personal statement workshops tailored to the NSF-GRFP, focused writing exercises, and structured peer review.
Mandatory virtual lab meetings will be held weekly 3–5 PM on Thursdays from June 13 to July 25 via Zoom (no meeting on July 4). Participants can also expect to spend 5-10 hours per week on independent writing. Those who participate fully in the lab can expect to produce full drafts of both required statements.
Incoming first-year, rising second-year graduate students, and undergraduate seniors in all eligible STEM and STEM education fields are welcome to join.
Interested students should confirm that they meet the general eligibility criteria and can commit to attending Thursday meetings. Note that eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens, nationals, and permanent residents.
Please register by Thursday, May 30 to kick-start your summer proposal writing!
