Thursday, Sept. 26th @ 7PM (Room 2009 SDRP) - Mia Ives-Rublee, a DRES / U of I Alum will be on campus as she will be speaking at the University YMCA on Friday, Sept. 27th at Noon.  Come meet with her on the 26th for a more intimate discussion about her work.  

Mia Ives-Rublee is a disabled Asian American activist who founded and coordinates the Women’s March Disability Caucus. She also contracts with numerous organizations to help them use a disability justice lens in their own work and increase the integration of disabled people in their organizing spaces. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and her Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was honored with the Glamour Women of the Year Award 2017 and the UNC School of Social Work Distinguished Alumni Award for her work.
