Dan Donahoe completed a bachelor’s degree in general engineering in 1977 and a master’s in mechanical engineering in 1979 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MBA from Sata Clara University in 1983 and a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland in 2005. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in several states. He worked for defense companies (Lockheed, Motorola, Ford Aerospace and Teledyne) and the Air Force, computer companies (Compaq and Iomega) and in consulting - for many firms. Dan has been active in professional societies. In IEEE Dan as a technical society chapter chair, section chair, associate editor, and as a board member of IEEE-USA and IEEE EPS.  In October of this year Dan will serve as General Chair of the 19th IEEE Nanotechnology Materials and Devices Conference. He has been honored with the Air Force Award for Meritorious Service, the IEEE Electronics Packaging Society Certificate of Distinguished Achievement, the Utah Engineers Council Engineer of the Year (nominated by AIAA), and the 2024 Alumni Award for Distinguished Service from the Grainger College of Engineering. Dan and Kaye will have been married fifty years in 2025.
