Susan was born in Chicago and lived in the suburbs until she came to UIUC. She currently resides in Michigan with her husband Ben, 8 year old daughter Brinley, and 5 year old son Remington. They enjoy spending time outdoors. Pre-pandemic they did a lot of traveling to new places in and outside the US and hope to hit all 50 states as well many more countries as they start traveling again.

She is a Certified Professional Ergonomist working as a Senior HMI Engineer with Hyundai America Technical Center in Michigan where she works on the User Experience team to develop and implement user-friendly infotainment systems for Kia’s, Hyundai’s, and Genesis vehicles. Her concentrations are on increasing the usability of Advanced Driving and Safety (ADAS) features such as Lane Keeping, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Assist as well as reducing Driver Distraction and keeping Drivers’ eyes on the road.

Her past includes careers as a Test Engineering then Manufacturing Engineer at Stryker and Ergonomics Consultant at Humantech. Susan graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in General Engineering with a focus in Biomedical Engineering prior to completing her masters in Industrial and Operations Engineering with a focus on Ergonomics at the University of Michigan. Don’t worry she’ll always cheer the Illini over the Wolverines.
