John C. White is a native of Bloomington, Illinois and Graduate of Champaign High School, Champaign, Illinois.  He received his Bachelor of Science majoring in General Engineering from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.  After completing his undergraduate studies, he performed graduate work in the Masters of Management Program at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

From March 1971 to April 1977, White was a Marketing Representative for International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) in Chicago.  In May 1977, he became president of the Clinton Harley Corporation (CHC) d.b.a. Clinton Technical Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.  In September 1997, Universal Technical Institute, Inc. acquired CHC.  White then assumed the position of Chairman of the Board and Strategic Planning Officer of the combined entity.  In December 2003 the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange.

In 1990, White was appointed by the Arizona Senate to serve as a member of the Joint Legislative Committee on Private Regionally Accredited Degree Granting Colleges & Universities & Private Nationally Accredited Degree Granting & Vocational Education Institutions. He was appointed by the Governor to the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education where he served as a board member and Complaint Committee Chairman from 1993 – 1998.

White’s excellence in leadership also benefits the community.  He has served on numerous boards, including the Arizona Easter Seals Board of Directors as Development Committee Chairman and the Arizona Private School Association.

White lives with his wife, Lynn, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
