What are polar lows and why do they become so devastating?
Polar lows are small, but intense cyclones developing in the marine polar air masses. Due to their gale-force winds, large amount of snowfall, rapid development, and poor predictability, they are one of the mature natural hazards at high latitudes. Still today, the research community is challenged by two fundamental questions: What are polar lows, and how do they intensify so rapidly? This presentation attempts to answer these questions by providing you with insight into the latest research.
