Join the Data + AI User Group on Friday, October 11 from 12-1pm. The aim of the user group is to build a community of interest around data and artificial intelligence to foster learning, collaboration, and networking. The group will serve both students and professionals to bridge the gap between the analytical sciences and practical applications of industry. All Research Park events are free; however, registration is required to ensure that we have adequate seating and food for all participants: https://forms.illinois.edu/sec/674542401

This Month's Program:
Veronica Grosso will discuss the ethical and inclusive challenges in AI development, focusing on the need to avoid biases that affect both human-robot and human-human interactions. As AI systems become more embedded in everyday life, it's essential to consider how they may unintentionally reinforce stereotypes and biases. By creating thoughtful, socially responsible AI, we can ensure that technological progress promotes fairness and positive human experiences.

About the Speaker:
Veronica Grosso is a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Chicago, focusing on the impact of gender biases and stereotypes in human interactions with social robots. Drawing on her expertise in Human-Computer Interaction and UI/UX design, she investigates how perceptions of warmth and competence shape these relationships. Passionate about ethical AI, Veronica is committed to developing inclusive technologies that actively challenge social biases.
