As a young prodigy, Danilo Brito would play the bandolim, a Brazilian-style mandolin, alongside his elders at rodas de choro—informal gatherings of musicians that celebrated Brazil’s popular choro music style. He quickly earned comparisons to Brazil’s pioneering mandolin player Jacob do Bandolim, from whom the bandolim takes its name. Joined by collaborators on seven-string guitar, six-string guitar, and pandeiro (percussion), Brito will dazzle ELLNORA audiences with his dexterity, romanticism, and verve.
