Dear Members of the University of Illinois Campus Community,
I want to draw your attention to an upcoming event in the Champaign-Urbana area that will be of special interest to those of us with military connections. On Wednesday March 2 at 7pm the Cline Center for Advanced Social Research at the University of Illinois is hosting a screening of a new feature-length documentary film titled “To What Remains” about efforts to find and recover the remains of American military personnel who died in overseas conflicts. Immediately following the film will be a post-screening discussion with the leaders of the nonprofit organization whose work in locating MIAs associated with underwater aircraft wrecks is featured in that film. Please feel free to forward this email along to others who might be interested as help spread the word about this opportunity to the Champaign-Urbana community.
This screening event and a post-screening conversation with Project Recover’s Pat Scannon and Derek Abbey are free and open to the public for both in-person and livestreamed audiences. ABOUT PROJECT RECOVER. Project Recover is a nonprofit organization that brings academic researchers together with volunteer team members to search for, locate, and assist in recovery of Americans missing in action from past wars using underwater robotics and cutting-edge underwater scanning technology. In collaboration with the University of Delaware and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Project Recover has already located over 50 aircraft associated with more than 170 MIAs lost in conflicts from World War Two to the Persian Gulf War.
