This summer the Graduate College Office of External Fellowships will host a six-week writing lab to support graduate students in preparing competitive applications for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF-GRFP). Participants will benefit from research proposal and personal statement workshops tailored to the NSF-GRFP, focused writing exercises, and structured peer review. Those who participate fully in the lab can expect to produce full drafts of both required statements.

Mandatory virtual lab meetings will be held weekly from 10 AM – 12 PM on Thursdays from June 23 – July 28 via Zoom.

Optional in-person writing cafes will be scheduled at the Graduate College on Fridays from 10-11:30 during this timeframe.

Incoming first-year and rising second-year graduate students, along with undergraduate seniors in all eligible STEM fields—including the social sciences—are welcome to join.

Interested students should confirm that they meet the general eligibility criteria and can commit to attending Thursday meetings.

Please register by Thursday, June 16 to kick-start your summer proposal writing!
