Quantum ferroelectric metals offer a fascinating window into the dynamical processes that give rise to inversion symmetry breaking in quantum materials. At the same time, they constitute an extremely promising platform for future quantum applications. I will describe a theoretical model of the ferroelectric quantum critical point in such systems, and try to convince you it (i) is interesting, and (ii) works. I'll do this by trying to explain the superconductivity in SrTiO3, a decades-old unsolved puzzle of unconventional superconductivity, and (if time permits) by discussing some fascinating experimental results on plastically deformed SrTiO3.
