This TED-style talk , with lunch provided, will be given by aerospace engineering Assistant Professor Zachary R. Putnam. It is a part of the Routes to STEM seminar series, designed to bring STEM topics to non-STEM audiences. About his talk, Putnam said. "To land on Mars, a spacecraft must decelerate from over 13,000 mph to 0 mph in about 5 minutes after travelling millions of miles through deep space. I'll discuss how current Mars landing systems work and promising new technologies that may enable humans to land on Mars in the future."
