Join us this Friday for an HMNTL Invited Seminar with ECE Distinguished Alumnus Dr. Joy Laskar, co-founder and CEO of Maja Systems.

Title: On the Development of mmW Wireless Products where 5G meets IoT

Pizza will be served following the event.

Since the first demonstration of mmW wireless connectivity in 1895, there has been much interest and promise in the future of mmW gigabit wireless technology. It has been only recently, with the emergence of CMOS radio ICs in combination with innovative antenna technology that one can envision a new class of systems and applications for low delay and high throughput connectivity. In this presentation, we focus on recent breakthroughs at Maja Systems with its Air Data (TM) product line and Surface Mount Antenna enabling wireless products for customers at the edge of the network such as data transport for industrial links, autonomous vehicles, and enterprise connectivity: where 5G meets IoT.

Joy Laskar is a co-Founder and CEO at Maja Systems. Maja Systems has helped pioneer the development of millimeter wave gigabit wireless products for a new class of data transport connectivity. Dr. Laskar’s technical expertise and contributions are at the intersection of Radio Frequency Electronics, Analog Electronics and Electromagnetics. Dr. Laskar has co-founded 5 companies, co-authored 5 textbooks, published more than 600 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, 60 patents (issued or pending) and graduated 41 Ph.D. students (while holding various tenured faculty positions at the University of Hawaii and Georgia Tech).Dr. Laskar received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is proud to be Professor Milton Feng’s first Ph.D. Student. Dr. Laskar is an IEEE Fellow, a member of the IEEE Access Editorial Board and past member of the DARPA Investor Working Board.
