Databricks Tech Talk
Thursday, September 29th
5:30PM - 6:30 PM
Location: 1013 ECEB
When you offer a platform to thousands of customers to organize and analyze terabytes of data every day, reliably launching and managing a massive distributed system of servers and storage is not just a competitive advantage, it is “table stakes” to operate your business. Learn how Databricks manages to launch tens of millions of VMs per day and the engineering hurdles we overcame to achieve it.
Please join us for an exclusive tech talk by two UIUC alum and now Software Engineers at Databricks; Rahul Mahadev and Ned Ellis. Learn more about them both below:
Ned works at Databricks on the Serverless Team, joining as the third software engineer in early 2021. Prior to Databricks, Ned got his Computer Engineering degree from UIUC from 2016-2020. While at school, he was involved in several RSOs including the ECE Open Lab and Student Space Systems.
Rahul graduated from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2019 with a Masters in Computer Science. He has since been working at Databricks building Delta Lake, a cloud based transactional storage layer for big data and AI workloads. At the ta;l, he will be sharing his experience working on Delta Lake and go over some of the interesting technical challenges in building a transactional storage system on the cloud.
A member will be there from the University Recruiting team to answer any questions you might have about both the 2023 Intern program & 2023 New College Grad positions! Please make sure to register ahead of time HERE!
