Labor and Employment Relations and the Center for Social and Behavioral Science invite you to participate in an upcoming campus visit with representatives from the U.S. Army Research Institute for Behavioral and Social Sciences (ARI) on Thursday, Sept. 5 and Friday, September 6, 2019.
As part of their site visit, Dr. Gerald (Jay) Goodwin and his associate, Dr. Alisha Ness, will offer four main sessions:
- A forum on ARI Basic Research interests
- This is a broad overview of the ARI Basic Research program, what they are interested in, and a sampling of some of what they are funding as examples.
- Graduate Student Meetings
- This is a two-hour meeting over lunch with graduate students.
- This opportunity may be of particular interest to students in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Social Psychology, Applied Psychology, Management, Organizational Behavior, EPOL, Educational Psychology, Communication, Sociology, Human Development, Engineering, Information Sciences, Statistics, Social Work, Labor and Employment Relations, etc.
- In this session, students can learn about career opportunities that combine elements of academic research and “applied” consulting.
- Short Course on Proposal Writing and Seeking Federal Funding
- This workshop is on proposal writing and seeking federal funding in general.
- It is a great opportunity for faculty and graduate students who plan to seek federal funding in the future.
- Faculty meetings
- ARI will meet with faculty one-on-one or in small groups about their research ideas/interests for which they may be seeking funding.
- This is a good opportunity for faculty to pitch research ideas of potential interest to ARI.
- Each meeting will last 20-30 minutes.
