The Jedi Mind Trick of Child Welfare Reform: Helping More Children Now By Dismantling the Systems We Have Inherited
Child and youth serving systems are predicated on a foundation of impossibilities. How do we prevent trauma when the supports and services are only available after the trauma happens? How do we run a system to protect and help our most vulnerable children with some of the most costly needs when the federal government continues to massively disinvest, reducing funding we need to address those needs? How do we build youth-centered approaches in systems that routinely marginalize and silence youth? Please join us for a discussion as we tackle answering some of these impossible questions and begin imagining how we can move forward to build the youth serving systems we need.
