Speakers: Yongjoo Park, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist, Keebo; Assistant Professor, UIUC; and Ishani Janveja, PhD Student, UIUC
Description: Keebo is a startup that helps customers optimize data warehouses. Its data learning platform learns from every query and user, automatically right‑sizes warehouses, routes queries smartly, and verifies every dollar saved. Keebo is venture-backed and deployed by major enterprises such as Costco, Okta, and Autodesk. This week, Yongjoo Park, co-founder and Chief Scientist of Keebo and Assistant Professor at UIUC, will join us to discuss how Keebo grew out of research at the University of Michigan. For this session, we’ll highlight the role of early customer trials in adjusting the direction of the product as it moves from research to customers.
This week’s seminar will conclude with an exciting announcement: the soft launch of Lab2Launch, a new CS grad student club focused on building a creative, entrepreneurship-minded community. If you're a grad student interested in turning research into impact, or just curious about exploring the startup world in a low-pressure, creative setting, this might be the place for you. Stick around to learn more about the club and how to get involved.
Refreshments will be served with the talk in 0216 Siebel Center, and you can also join via Zoom.
