Abstract:
In this talk, I will discuss my experiences teaching a growing course on algorithm design at the University of Texas at Dallas. The overarching theme of my talk will be "motivation". I will describe what motivated my choice of material to teach and resources to use, how I motivated students on the importance of the course and their ability to succeed, and the motivation for various technical aspects of running a course that started at 40 students pre-pandemic and grew to over 100 by the Fall 2024 semester.
