Abstract

Do you dream of having your own startup? Are you curious to know what it would be like to work on a startup and wonder what you can do as a student to prepare? This session will feature current students, alums and faculty who can share their experiences, give you tips that they wish someone had shared with them, and answer your questions.

Gautam Kumar

Gautam Kumar is a growth stage business executive who has grown 3 consumer internet companies (Lower.com, Rocket Travel, Options House) and successfully exited to industry leaders (Rocketmiles acquired by Booking Holdings, OptionsHouse acquired by E*Trade). He previously had a background as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company with internships in venture capital, banking, and software development. He graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a BS/MS degree in Computer Science in 2006. He is currently taking a sabbatical to spend time with his family while doing part-time advisory and board work for non-profits and start-ups.

Dunn Solutions Group

As President of Dunn Solutions Group, Mr. Dunn works with clients to help them through Digital Transformation focusing on analytics (Data Warehousing, Big Data, Machine Learning) and custom business process automation (including e-commerce, portals, and custom web applications). Bill has a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
