We look for students in engineering and flight sciences disciplines who are interested in contributing to meaningful work, developing and expanding skillsets, and working with like-minded individuals. Top candidates are self-motivated, have a passion for aviation, are eager to take on new and unfamiliar challenges, and think independently. Working with some of the most brilliant minds in the industry, our interns have access to numerous technical resources and are submersed in our company culture.
Knowing that every intern brings their own specialties and experiences, Scaled endeavors to build a custom internship experience that works with an intern’s skillset and challenges them to expand their abilities. Embedded directly onto active Scaled programs, our previous interns have had the opportunities to build & flight test RC programs, take lead on load test articles for flying hardware, support flight mission planning, and support the variety of the exciting work we get involved in at Scaled!
Our paid internship program lasts between 10-12 weeks over the summer months.

Founded by Burt Rutan in 1982 and located in Mojave, CA, Scaled has averaged one first flight of a unique, new airplane per year. Scaled designs, builds, and tests proof-of-concept, prototype, and milestone achieving vehicles such as Proteus, GlobalFlyer, SpaceShipOne, Model 401, and Stratolaunch.
