AE 590 Optional Seminar Speaker: Ken Jacobs - Artemis II Launch and Mission Overview

Abstract: 
Relive the Artemis II launch and mission during an hour long presentation by Ken Jacobs, member of the Artemis II Launch Team at Kennedy Space Center, FL. Launch and mission videos will allow the participants to learn about NASA’s successful Artemis II mission that serves as a springboard for future missions to the Moon and Mars.

Bio:
Ken graduated with a BS in Computer Science in 1984 from the U of I College of Engineering, and have worked on manned spaceflight systems since 1985.  I began my space career on the Space Shuttle Program until the Shuttle system was retired in 2011.  After the Space Shuttle program ended, I began work on the Artemis Space Launch System vehicle concepts which utilized similar design elements as the Space Shuttle.  I am currently an Operations Project Engineer working for Exploration Ground Systems on the Integration Team at Kennedy Space Center supporting the SLS rocket processing and launch activities.  I have supported the successful Artemis I and II launches and missions, and am looking forward to a successful Artemis III launch, and future missions to the moon and Mars.
