Meggan Duffy, a partner at Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP and chair of the firm’s Medical Devices practice group, helps innovators secure and leverage domestic and international patent protection across a broad range of technologies, including mechanical, electromechanical, consumer products, medical devices, and femtech innovations. Her practice focuses on advancing and protecting emerging technologies through strategic patent preparation, prosecution, and counseling, with her extensive experience in successful U.S. and foreign patent prosecution spanning numerous technical disciplines. Since 2019, Meggan has been recognized by her peers as a "Leading Lawyer" and Crain's Chicago Business included her in the 2022 "Notable Women in Law" List. Meggan was also named among the 2023 Influential Women in Business by the Daily Herald Business Ledger and recognized in the 2025 and 2026 editions of The Best Lawyers in America©.
Outside of her work experience, Meggan served as Board Member for the Illinois Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA) and the Chicago IP Alliance and is actively involved with Chicago Women in IP. She has taught patent law and intellectual property–related courses at DePaul University College of Law, is a founding member of the Chicago IP Alliance Mentoring Program, and currently serves as a mentor for Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) mentoring program. Meggan earned her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and her B.S. in General Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana‑Champaign, where she previously served as President of Gamma Epsilon Honors Society and received the Honorary Knight of St. Patrick Award.
