Dr. Stefanie Bumpus McBride - U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
November 7th, 2024 - 5:00 PM
Coble Hall, Room 108 (801 S. Wright St.) & Zoom

Abstract:

Global health security exists when strong and resilient public health systems prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats—wherever they occur in the world. These infectious disease threats can be naturally occurring, accidental, or deliberate. In this seminar. Dr. Stefanie B. McBride will share her experiences working in public health policy to address threats to global health security in the United States and around the world. She will share how her graduate training at the University of Illinois provided a strong foundation for a transition from the lab bench into public policy and explore the connections between national security and public health issues, including antimicrobial resistance.

Bio:

Dr. Stefanie Bumpus McBride is the Associate Director for Antimicrobial Resistance Policy and Partnerships in the Antimicrobial Resistance Coordination and Strategy Unit at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
