The “ICASU Theoretical Minimum” seminars are primarily intended for ICASU graduate students in order to introduce topics of broad interest across all fields of study at ICASU, but which lie somewhat outside the content of the core curriculum. The focus will be on material standard enough to be in a (possibly highly specialized) textbook, rather than cutting-edge research topics, which are already covered by the many seminar series across the university. Faculty and postdocs are also welcome to attend, and in addition are encouraged to present topics of interest to them. We will also use this slot to introduce each other to the basic tools of our trades. To begin with, we will focus on a variety of physics topics, but we also encourage presentations in mathematics, computer science and astronomy. The talks will assume knowledge of QFT at the level of PHYS 582 and GR at the level of PHYS 515, but will attempt to keep all other material self-contained.
