Divya Mehta graduated with a B.S. General Engineering in 1999. For the next several years, she worked for General Electric Industrial Systems, completing the Technical Sales Leadership Program and then taking a sales role in Chicago. In 2002, she started law school at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. After obtaining her J.D., Divya worked for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office for almost three years, where she gained significant experience in litigation. She subsequently worked for several law firms focusing on medical malpractice and insurance defense work.
In late 2013, Divya joined KONE Inc., a global Finnish-based elevator and escalator company. Since joining KONE, she has worked in several roles of increasing responsibility and has established herself as a business leader with extensive legal experience. In 2020, Divya began her role as KONE America’s SVP and General Counsel, leading all aspects of the organization’s legal endeavors.
Divya loves spending time with her family. She has been married for 15 years and has two girls, ages 11 and 9. She lives close to her parents and both her siblings and their families so she spends a lot of time with them. She also has 3 nieces and 4 nephews, and a huge extended family, which makes for a lot of fun times! In her free time, Divya loves running, yoga, football (both playing and fantasy), and reading. She is also active in the Graham Elementary School PTA and a board member of the Association of Corporate Counsel. The most unique and fun thing she has done in the last year is to appear on Wheel of Fortune as a contestant!
