Aerospace Engineering Seminars

The seminar will give an overview of the Targeting, Guidance and Navigation activities being carried out in the GNC Autonomous Flight Systems Branch at the Johnson Space Center. In particular, the focus will be on the design and implementation of onboard algorithms for the Orion spacecraft. The Targeting Algorithm called Two-Level Targeter (TLT) will be described as will each of the four navigation filters that have been developed for and implemented on Orion. Particular attention will be given to Autonomous Optical Navigation which has been developed to return the Crew Safely to Earth in the event of a Loss of Communications with the Ground.
