Grainger Engineering: Special Events Calendar

Join The Grainger College of Engineering in recognizing the impact Nick Holonyak, Jr. has had on engineering and the world as we celebrate the renaming of the Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory (MNTL) as the Nick Holonyak, Jr. Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory.

After receiving three degrees from Illinois and being mentored as a graduate student by two-time Nobel Laureate John Bardeen, Nick Holonyak, Jr. went on to invent the world's first practical light-emitting diode (LED). He and his students also demonstrated the first quantum well laser, which enabled modern fiber optics communication.

Please RSVP by Tuesday, June 4.
