The Order of the Engineer is a professional organization with membership open to engineering graduates from all ABET accredited engineering disciplines as well as to all Professional Engineers. You must graduate in the year 2019 to be eligible to join the Order this spring.
In order to become a member, you must take an oath by which you will swear to make ethical and responsible decisions in your everyday work. As a reminder of this oath, you will receive a stainless steel ring, which is to be worn on the fifth finger of the writing hand. Membership requires a one-time fee of $10.00 that helps to pay for the ring and certificate that you will receive. The Order of the Engineer ringing ceremony will be held on the Friday of E-Week. This year, it will take place in room 1122 of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) on February 22nd, 2019. The ceremony shall commence at 5:30 pm and will be followed by a reception where refreshments will be provided.
If you are interested, please go to eweek.ec.illinois.edu to find more information about the ceremony. If you’d like to sign up, the “Order of the Engineer” tab includes the sign up form. Payment and ring sizing will be in the Engineering Council office (103C Engineering Hall) from 10am - 6pm Monday-Friday starting January 28th, and Saturday-Sunday from 12:30 - 2:30 pm. The final date to sign up and pay is Sunday, February 3rd.
