In this 3 day workshop, UIS faculty, staff, and student employees (registered by a campus department) will work with the UIS campus accessibility specialist and COLRS staff to learn about:
- the laws that govern accessibility
- how to make Word documents, PDF files, and PowerPoint presentations
- how to make videos accessible (captions, audio descriptions, and transcripts)
You will work with many different documents, including real-world examples of teaching materials, and learn how to make them accessible.
Participants will need to bring documents to edit (specfically: 4 Word documents, 2 PDFs, 4 PowerPoint presentations, and 2 videos uploaded to YouTube or UIS Kaltura through Blackboard). Box.com is the ideal way to bring your documents with you to the workshop.
Registration is limited to the first 16 participants to email Vance Martin at firstname.lastname@example.org. Student workers, graduate assistants, and teaching assistants must be registered by their department supervisors. COLRS will keep a waitlist in the case of cancellations.
