Dr. Cetin will discuss the problem of femicides in Turkey, placing it in a global context. He will focus on the following topics: The Istanbul Convention, statistics on femicides, different forms of femicides, social causes of it, legal legislation and other measures taken to prevent femicides. He will discuss the women's movement and the changing status of women in Turkey, and in relation to this, the phenomenon that he has labelled “Revolt Killings,” which he suggests constitutes a significant part of today's femicides of Turkey.
