Inelastic magnetic neutron scattering is a key diagnostic tool for quantum spin liquids. For the one-dimensional spin-1/2 chain a continuum of scattering has been measured and found in detailed agreement with exact theoretical results for multi-spinon scattering.

In this talk I will describe neutron scattering studies of spin liquid candidates in two and three dimensions including NiGa2S4, NaCaNi2F7, NaSrMn2F7, and Yb2Ti2O7. While we do observe broad excitation spectra, these may result from the loss of momentum conservation due to the disordered spin configurations induced by competing interactions. The effects are interesting and need to be understood in the ongoing pursuit of materials realizations of quantum spin liquids beyond one dimension.
