The purpose of this workshop is to examine what it means to be a first generation college student and how it can impact higher educational goals. Participants will examine their own journey getting to the University of Illinois and how it may differ from those with different backgrounds and resources. They will learn what a first generation college student is and some of the challenges they may face. Finally, they will be quizzed on resources on campus to have them leave feeling they are more equipped to deal with these issues.
