This fall, Krannert Art Museum, Allerton Park & Retreat Center, and the School of Music at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign have partnered to premiere What Stays Behind, a new site-specific composition by Andrew Rodriguez at the 2021 Art Remastered.
Rodriguez’s original score for strings and percussion probes how we experience the spaces of Allerton Park and KAM in regard to sound and movement. The piece will be performed by twelve students from the School of Music, who will be physically spaced out in unique configurations throughout Allerton’s Sunken Garden and KAM’s East Gallery. At each performance, audience members are invited to move throughout the space and in-between performers to participate in an immersive experience.
Two performances will take place in the Sunken Garden at Allerton Park on Saturday, October 2 at 12:30pm and 1:30pm.
