Join the Center for Writing Studies administrative team on Thursday, October 28th from 12pm to 1:30pm for a workshop entitled “Alternative Assessments & Ungrading.”

In this collaborative workshop, we will discuss the history of grading and its impacts on writing instruction and work through alternative assessment methods such as contract grading, self-assessment, and collaborative rubric development. The workshop will cover links between assessment and inequity, as well as how assessment shapes writing across the curriculum. Attendees will have the opportunity to workshop their own writing assignments and develop ungrading strategies that they can implement in their own classrooms. This workshop is intended for instructors (including graduate students, NTT, and tenure-stream faculty) of writing-intensive and advanced composition courses who are interested in reflecting on their current assessment practices and learning more about potential alternatives both within and beyond their current instructional contexts.

This workshop will take place virtually via Zoom.
