Typically, the first ten minutes of the talk are all I understand. It may happen quickly, it may happen gradually, but inevitably, the Green’s function/2D heatplots of 10D data/A3 page circuit diagrams/crazy definitions come out and the listener begins to resemble Dumbeldore at the crystal cup. I will attempt to extend those blissful first ten minutes into a full length talk. The topic that I will be butchering is: What is important for quantum computing? I will try to give a high level overview of where we are, place current research into a framework and invite the audience to speculate rampantly with me about what is important to work on now.
