Physics - Astrophysics, Relativity, and Cosmology Seminar

Next-generation ground-based cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiments will characterize with unprecedented precision the CMB temperature and polarization anisotropies. The effects of gravitational lensing of the CMB have been measured at high significance with existing data and will be measured even more precisely in future surveys. Reversing the effects of lensing on the observed CMB temperature and polarization maps provides a variety of benefits, all of which are possible without any changes to experimental or survey design. We develop a self-consistent, iterative, all-orders treatment of CMB delensing on the curved sky and demonstrate the impact that delensing will have with future surveys. I will present results from our delensing work in 2111.15036 and discuss its applicability to future work and upcoming CMB surveys, in particular with a focus on improving constraints on Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics.
