Introductory physics labs provide students with an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and ways of thinking while working in small teams. However, when students collaborate, there is a risk of social inequities being perpetuated or exacerbated in the physics lab. In this talk, I will share a bit about how inequities may manifest in labs and other physics courses. I will also share some thoughts on how to design for inclusive and equitable learning, including the role of training for graduate student teaching assistants who run labs.
