Currently, the reduction in size and the increase of data open the way for new technologies such as nanophotonics to allow complementing the technologies used currently for the transport of information. The need for photon and electron transport is thus necessary although very difficult in practice due to the different scales involved. Optical properties are given by the typical diffraction limit of light (typically hundreds of nanometres) and as such are not compatible with the typical size of the current microelectronics typically on the scale of tens of nanometres. In this work, we propose two different approaches to tackle this problem. The first consists of a hybrid plasmonic nanosystem comprising two types of nanosources of light placed strategically on a silver nanowire electromagnetic waveguide. The second is based on the integration of a single photon source, with a photonic structure consisting of a glass optical waveguide used in photonics integrated circuits. Latest developments will be presented as well using colour centres in diamond.
