The holy grail of planet formation research is to connect the conditions for planet formation in young planet-forming disks with the mature planetary systems observed by exoplanet surveys. Debris disks probe a key intermediate stage, with ages between ~10Myr and 1Gyr. I will discuss the insights that debris disks provide into the structure and evolution of planetary systems, with an emphasis on gas and dust imaging at millimeter wavelengths.
